Dylan Dykes We use these, along with their branded charging station. Way better for the environment and much more cost efficient. Any brand will work as you get started. 🔋✅

(don’t put your nice new batteries in a cheap charger)

Dylan Dykes OH, and pick up some rechargeable batteries. I didn’t even bother opening the deity branded ones it came with.

GO DYLAN!! These things are amazing. You will be very, very satisfied with them. I’ve got 8 in my kit right now, and I’m considering investing in more. Sound is truly the magic ingredient I was missing out on. Excited to see what you’ll create with them. Make sure you post about it!

Hey Shane, Welcome to the Academy! Congrats on your May wedding! You must be so excited to get filming. It’s great to hear that you’re looking to prep. Planning is so so crucial for this approach and will set you up for success.

Carlos Sierra My team and I produced this recruitment film for free. We just wanted the practice and needed content for our business portfolio. I hope it gives some inspiration! Set the bar high!https://skytona.com/biddefordfire

Carlos... my guy... are they recruiting? pushing a PSA? hyping up community engagement? If you don’t know the mission, you’re just shooting in the dark.

When I worked with my local fire department, they needed a killer recruitment film, so I focused on storytelling, not just cool action shots. The result? A video that actually made people want to sign up.

Once you lock in the goal, everything else falls into place. Approach, style, deliverables (social cut? full-length?). Nail that down first, then go shoot something awesome.

We’ve got two Sigma 24-70 2.8s in our kit, and they’ve been delivering great results. At half the price of the Sony, the value is hard to ignore. Sure, Sony’s glass might be better overall, but the price difference just doesn’t make sense to me. That said, if you know you’ll be sticking with Sony for the long haul, I’d stick to the saying: “Marry the lenses, date the camera bodies.” Lenses hold their value much longer, making them a smarter long-term investment if taken care of.
